How Does A Check Register Balance Match The Bank Statement Balance

Let's check out why the beginning balance of your reconciliation doesn't hold with your annals, Charley. I'll also add data about the balance in the register and the Balance Sheet.

Earlier nosotros start, we'll have a little background to guide us through the procedure.

The reconciliation has two balances. The Ending Residuum is from your depository financial institution statement, whereas Offset Balance is from your register. The latter is from the last reconciled transaction in your register, every bit shown in the screenshot. It also reflects on the Remainder Sail.

perfect reconciliation.PNG If you delete, un-reconcile, add and reconcile a transaction, or edit a reconciled transaction, the first balance will modify. This will cause a difference when you reconcile your business relationship. The business relationship rest in the Residuum Canvass will change as well, except if you simply un-reconcile a transaction.

To resolve this, you'll want to correct the Beginning Residual:

  • Compare the transactions in you bank argument and your register, and brand sure they are the same. If in that location are duplicates or missing ones, delete or recreate them. Then, mark them as reconciled.
  • Cheque your Reconciliation Discrepancy Reports to run into if in that location are reported changes. You lot can click on the transactions to correct them. reconciliation descripancy report.PNG
  • Re-reconcile whatsoever unreconciled by transactions that shows on the report past placing a check mark in the field indicated. Please refer to the screenshots.

Please let me know if yous're able to resolve the difference or if you still demand more assistance.
